Wilckodontics
WILCKODONTICS – AOO (Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics)
Wilckodontics is 3 to 4 times faster than conventional orthodontics.
THREE ADVANTAGES
- More bone is produced around teeth than before ortho case started.
This leads to the most beneficial result – greater stability than traditional
orthodontics.
- Increase in bone mass allows for subtle improvements in facial appearance
and profile.
- Three (3) to eight (8) months is the time for a typical orthodontic case
completion.
EXPLANATION
Recent scientific advances have enhanced our understanding of healing and bone
growth. Although bone is one of the hardest tissues in the body, it is very much
alive. Because of its dense nature, bone changes very slowly. These changes in
bone are called the “remodeling process.” By performing a minor periodontal
procedure, this dense bone is softened, accelerating the remodeling process. It
is this process of accelerated bone remodeling that sets the Wilckodontics
system apart from conventional orthodontics.
This softened supporting bone permits the teeth to move into their new position
much more quickly. Routine braces and specialized Wilckodontics appliances are
still required to move the teeth. Once in position, the teeth are simply held in
place while the supporting bone hardens around the teeth.
Complete healing of the newly remodelled bone occurs in approximately 8 months.
The Wilckodontics technique provides the patient with a beautiful, long lasting
smile, in the shortest time possible.
THE PERIODONTAL PROCEDURE
After local anaesthesia and perhaps sedation, if requested, the patient relaxes
and time passes quickly. An antibiotic saturated, bone-grafting material is
placed under the gums through a few small incisions made by the dentist. The
graft is placed only over the areas where the supporting bone needs to be
softened. This creates the ability to perform easy tooth movement.
After straightening the teeth, the grafting materials will convert into the
patient’s own supporting bone. The newly formed supporting bone not only helps
to hold the straightened teeth, it also supports the lips.
This is an added benefit, preventing the sunken face appearance that can
accompany aging.
The end result is a beautiful, prominent smile for years to come.
Due to the shortened treatment time (3 to 8 months), your Wilckodontics
procedure can be scheduled not to interfere with important social events. The
benefits of a shortened treatment are complemented by the quality of a pleasing
smile.
